The Ho Chi Minh City Karatedo Federation (HKF) will organise an in-depth Kata Seminar with world champion Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân on 30 and 31 October 2026 at Tây Thạnh Culture and Sports Club, 87 Chế Lan Viên Street, Tây Thạnh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. The programme is designed to enhance Kata knowledge and practical skills for coaches, instructors and Karate practitioners, while enabling the Karatedo community to engage directly with advanced training methods.

The Seminar will comprise four training sessions, held in the morning and afternoon on both days. Participation is not limited by club, province, city or organisation, expanding opportunities for professional exchange among those who practise and teach Karate.

Learning from international competition and coaching experience

A highlight of the programme will be direct instruction from Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân, a leading figure in Vietnamese Kata. During her competitive career, she won two world championship titles and achieved multiple top results at the SEA Games, Asian Championships and other international competitions.

A notable milestone in Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân’s competitive journey came in 2012. After two years away from competition due to injury, she returned at the Hanau Open Karatedo tournament in Germany and won the gold medal in women’s individual Kata. In the decisive match, she defeated Japanese athlete Kajikawa Rimi by a score of 3–2. Records of Vietnamese Karate achievements also recognise Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân as one of Vietnam’s most successful Kata athletes.

Alongside her achievements in competition, Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân has spent many years in coaching. Her international competition experience, training process and hands-on work coaching Vietnamese Kata athletes underpin an approach that combines technique, training methodology, competition experience and high-level coaching expertise. Materials from the Vietnam Sports Authority also document her transition from a highly accomplished athlete to coaching, as well as the international achievements of athletes she has coached.

Four training sessions over two days

According to the schedule, the Seminar will take place on 30–31 October 2026, with morning sessions from 09:00 to 11:30 and afternoon sessions from 14:00 to 16:30. The four-session format provides participants with time to observe directly, practise and receive instruction in a programme focused on Kata.

Eligible participants include coaches and instructors holding black belt rank or above, as well as Karate practitioners aged 13 and over holding red belt rank or above. For coaches and instructors, it is an opportunity to update their approaches to Kata training for appropriate application at their clubs or organisations. For Karate practitioners, the programme provides direct access to the practical and competitive experience of a world champion.

HKF identifies this as a professional activity serving the learning needs of the Karatedo community. By bringing together practitioners and teachers from different organisations, the Seminar will also provide a space to exchange experience, strengthen professional connections and collectively advance the quality of Kata training.

Registration, fee and certificate

All registered participants who attend the Seminar will receive a certificate signed by world champion Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân and the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Karatedo Federation. The participation fee is VND 1,500,000 per person for registrations made before 20 October 2026; from 21 October 2026, the fee is VND 2,000,000 per person. The fee includes the certificate.

With Nguyễn Hoàng Ngân participating in person, the programme offers those who practise and teach Karate an opportunity to meet, train and build their professional experience. The Seminar continues HKF’s commitment to strengthening advanced training activities, connecting the Karatedo community and creating further opportunities to access international-level competition and coaching experience.
